GUIDING ABROAD...
With over 25 years
travel experience, including more than 12 years of worldwide
guiding experience, I am able to put together tailor-made trips
to suit the requirements of small groups. Please get in touch to
discuss your ideas or to join a group of like-minded people.
Places are available on
the following trips:
2008
An excellent trip for getting that life-changing view
of a breaching, fin-slapping, tail-fluking Whale, and for
getting to know migrant birds that only turn up as vagrants in
Europe. The Bay Of Fundy, tucked in on Canadas Atlantic
seaboard, has the largest tidal range in the world and
also has one of the most important Whale feeding grounds in the
world, especially for Humpbacks and endangered Northern Right
Whales. Several boat trips are included, when we will look at
the flocks of hundreds of Red-necked and Grey Phalaropes feeding
along lines of floating seaweed, hundreds of Great Shearwaters,
and smaller numbers of Wilsons Petrels as well as the Cetaceans.
Migrants, even as small as Monarch butterflies and Ruby-throated
Hummingbirds, are often seen from the boats as they cross the
open sea on their journey south. On dry land one of our bases,
on Brier Island, is well-suited for watching mixed flocks of American
Warblers (such as Black and White, Blackburnian, Myrtle,
Black-throated Green and Northern Parula) pass through. Waders,
such as Least , Semi-palmated and White-rumped Sandpipers,
Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs and Short-billed Dowitchers,
fuel-up along the shorelines. And on top of all this a wide range of other more
resident birds
include Bald Eagle, Belted Kingfisher, Gray Jay and Boreal
Chickadee.
