October 2005: Found by Dave Pierce in a field near Insh. The first record for Badenoch and Strathspey, and only the 5th record for Highland.
Both this male and a female 70 metres away had ice forming on their tail feathers.
Another 7 chicks were being brooded underneath this female.
The white edgings to the black ear-tips are actually frost crystals!
The endemic subspecies "scoticus".
